Ver’osa is a world where magic rules. Here, swords are only used in sport or by magi using powerful steel-altering spells, and wars are fought by magi over mana rich land. Technological advancement has come to a standstill since the Manastorm centuries ago, and has remained in what we would call the dark ages. On the continent of Aurne, the mostly elven nation of Ash’athe has been known to sire relatively few powerful magi. this is balanced by the fact that the ones that are powerful are very powerful. the rulers are elected as the previous rulers fall. the dwarven nation of Omryn, in contrast, has a nearly universal magical population, but few great magi. it is ruled by the royal family, which has been preserved through sheer dwarven loyalty. humans mostly reside in the nation of Throvorath, and are between the two other nations in terms of quantity vs. quality of magi. the rulers are powerful magi families that can only be toppled by a magi even more powerful, in a duel. as magic flows in the family blood, this happens fairly rarely. other races are spread out among the three nations.
